We care for dogs, cats, small animals and wildlife. All the animals that come to our care are checked by our vet, neutered, wormed, vaccinated and treated for fleas. We have a No Kill policy and we do as much as possible to keep the animals happy while in our care. We have helped many Hedgehogs over the years. Many come to us as Orphans and have to be hand reared until they are big enough to be released back into the wild. We have also helped to neuter and re home feral cats. It doesn't matter to us if any animal coming into the centre has medical problems we will deal with it. Like Daisy-Mae who was Diabetic and had to get daily injections and eventually we managed to control her condition with diet alone.

SOME OF THE ANIMALS WE HAVE HELPED OVER THE YEARS. |
STEALLY BLUE
| Steally Blue was brought to us by a nice couple who had found him straying. hes was an un neutered male. When he came into us it was apparent that he had a problem with his eyes, he had Entropian which meant that his eyelids turned inwards with was irritating his eyes. This meant he needed to have an operation. The operation was a success and within a few days he was off to hi new home in the country.
| CELIA AND BABIES GET RESCUED
| We received a phone call from a council worker in Autumn 2007 to say that a mother and 3 kittens had been spotted behind one of their building which was due to be demolished to be build a new road. Two of our staff jumped in the van with a trap, towels and a basket. The mother and kittens were very scared. The traps were set then it was a case of a waiting game. It took many hours for them to be captured. They were brought back to the centre where they were given food and water. The kittens were around 7weeks old so they were separated from their mother since she was extremely skinny and they need socialized. Later it was discovered that the mother was pregnant again, she was taken into a foster home where she gave birth to 8 kittens but unfortunately 2 didn't make it. Celia was a perfect mother and they grew up to be lovely little kittens who found homes very quickly when they were ready to go at 9wks of age. He older kitten came on well and found homes. Celia is now living with one of our Animal Care Assistants.
| HEDGEHOGS
| On the run up to Winter 2007 we had our busiest time with Orphan hedgehogs. It was thought with the change in temperature had caused the Hedgehogs to have another litter which they then abandoned when the colder weather came along. Many were only a few weeks old and had to be fed every couple of hours. We had at least 20 Orphans that year and that wasn't including the young adults that were too light in weight to get through hibernation.
| MR OWL
| A member of the public brought in an Owl which had been hit by a car just along the road from our Rescue Centre. He was taken to our vet and it was discovered that he had injured one off his eyes. We set up an aviary for him to recover from his ordeal. After a week of rest he was ready to be released back into the wild. He was released in a wood near to where he was found and he just flew off into the trees without any hesitation.
| THOMAS
| Thomas was found as a stray in Hawick. He was un neutered and had a bit of a feisty nature. He was neutered and tested for FeLV and FIV which we do with all strays. It turned out that he was positive for both tests. We did not put him to sleep because he was showing no signs of being ill and he could live a normal life. He was found a home where he could get the love and attentioned that he deserved after living rough for so long.
| MABEL, AGNES AND 3 KITTENS ABANDONED AT SCOTTS VIEW
| A gentleman turned up at our gate one afternoon with three 4wk old kittens which he had found abandoned next to a bin up at Scotts View. We took them in and warmed them up and gave them a drink. They had to be hand reared. A few days later we got a phone call to say that an adult cat and a kitten had been spotted up at Scotts view. Late that afternoon we went up to Scotts view where we spotted the two cats. It took a while to coax the 12wk old kitten into a basket but a trap had to be set for the adult cat. All the cats turned out to be quite friendly once they had time to get over their ordeal.
