Welcome to the BALSA Website...

Profile - The Borders Adult Learners and Students Association (BALSA) was established in early 2003 under the guidance of Wendy Ball and the support of the Literacies 'Learning for All' project. Now as then, the main aim of BALSA is to bring together target groups, which were identified in the early stages. These include Adult and Student learners, learners groups, providers of learning and organisations associated with adult and student learning planning. Furthermore we have an important role in working together with learning providers both in the Borders and further afield. As well as providing advice and representing the voice of learners in the Borders, BALSA also aims to provide opportunities for lobbying to socialising, information sharing to representation. We hope to facilitate and promote learner led opinions and ideas, as well as building links which further individual achievements through learning and ensure learning is a worthwhile and democratic undertaking. BALSA is also not just a talking shop, but provides a platform for learners in the Borders to seek advice, exchange ideas and opinions and solve problems associated with learning.
